Hurricane Sandy

 Sandy #1

Sandy #2

Harvest Moon

Hurricane Sandy blasted the region late this weekend into the start of the work week.  The storm formed in the Bahamas and began to make its move toward the United States.  Several of the weather models picked up on the idea of a MAJOR storm affecting the Northeast part of the country over a week out!  More often than not models tend to tickle the feet of weather weenies with a big fantasy storm that only slips off the model to be replaced by a frontal passage!  This time however the models seemed like the were converging on the idea of something truly special and possibly Historic in Nature!

A strong blocking weather pattern out over the North Atlantic was going to make this tropical cyclone do something many had not do turn back and move right toward the coast!  The storm ended up making landfall in SNJ where utter devastation from high winds and Major coastal flooding took place!  The storms impacts were felt up and down the coast, and in parts of West Virginia on the cold side of the storm the snow was measured in feet!!

We were very and I mean very lucky here in SNE we made it out easy so to say!  If that storm had tracked in across Long Island well that would have done to SNE what you saw unfold in NY and NJ.  It should be an interesting winter especially if we continue to see blocking set up!
